Yeah I pwn at shooting shows…light was SHIT at 506 (I mean…1/20-60 the entire time at f/2.2 @ ISO 1600…it got even worse when I used a f/2.8) and I STILL got some baller shots

photojournalists here at UNC should NEVER be allowed in a studio…b/c they have no idea what the fuck they’re doing and think that since they’re so fucking “amazing” at capturing moments with natural light, that creating moments with artificial light is just as easy

well…it’s not

Shooting a show Friday night…pretty excited. I saw them perform when I shot Aerodrone, but now I get them all to myself.

Sooooooo everyone in my photo class is buying the 11×14 Fibre based paper that Taj suggested for printing for our final portfolios…for 50 sheets it costs as much as it would for 100 sheets of 8×10 Resin coated paper (which is what we’ve been using this whole semester). While I would love to get it and witness how FUCKING AMAZING it’s supposed to be (apparently it has better tonal range, yada, yada) but I go through paper very fast and 50 sheets is not enough for me to do 12 final prints on. Yeah I could just buy 100 sheets but that’ll run me about $130 which is just ridiculous. So I’ll just be the rebel and print on RC paper and everyone will deal with it.

I find the RC vs FB argument similar to the Film vs Digital argument. Art is art and how it’s created/displayed is independent of the artists ability. I’ve seen amazing images made from DIY cameras (matchbox, push pin, film. That’s it) and amazing images from Hasselblads. I’ve seen amazing images from $70 wal mart digital cameras and I’ve seen amazing images from $20,000 large format digital back cameras. I don’t find the argument that FB is better than RC convincing and I refuse to waste money on pieces of paper. I’m pretty sure my RC prints are going to be miles ahead of anyone else’s FB prints b/c I know what the fuck I’m doing when behind the lens and in the darkroom.
